LANVIN, I am in Love

I want to be beautiful and happy .... that is why I choose you, Lanvin

"I just want to make people more beautiful and happy." Alber Elbaz

Jeanne-Marie Lanvin (French pronunciation: [ʒɑ̃ maʁi lɑ̃vɛ̃]; 1 January 1867, Paris – 6 July 1946, Paris) was a French fashion designer and the founder of the Lanvin fashion house.
One of the most influential designers of the 1920s and '30s, Jeanne Lanvin's skillful use of intricate trimmings, virtuoso embroideries and beaded decorations in clear, light, floral colors became a Lanvin trademark. When Lanvin died in 1946, ownership of the firm was naturally ceded to the designer's daughter, Marguerite di Pietro.[1]

In October 2001, Alber Elbaz was appointed artistic director of Lanvin in Paris.

Coco Strawberry

Woohoo...holiday season is here :) Start to collect your best recipes from elsewhere and name each of it with your favorite words. It's Fun!

as covered in Instyle Magazine Indonesia- April 2011.Prepared by me.

One of my favorite recipe is called "Coco Strawberry" - Strawberry with coconut and white chocolate

150g  White chocolate, chopped
123g  Icing sugar
80ml  Sweetened condensed milk
45g    Desiccated coconut
1        Egg white
4pcs   Strawberries

Place the chocolate in heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water; ensuring that the bowl doesn't touch the water. Stir until the chocolate is melted.

Paint the inside of 8 small paper cases evenly with half the chocolate.  Place on baking tray and transfer to the freezer until set. Paint again carefully with another layer of chocolate, return to the freezer until set. Carefully peel off the paper cases.

Add the condensed milk, coconut and stir until well combined. In a separate clean bowl, beat the egg white until soft peaks form. Fold into the coconut mixture.

Spoon the coconut ice into the chocolate cases and press flat with a teaspoon dipped in boiling water. Refrigerate until needed.

Top each petite four with chopped strawberries and refrigerate until needed. These  petite fours freeze well. Bon appetit ;)

Afternoon Tea Party

afternoon tea - a light midafternoon meal of tea and sandwiches or cakes; "an Englishman would interrupt a war to have his afternoon tea" (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/afternoon+tea)

Etiquette when attending a tea party
  • Greeting/handshake
  • After sitting down — put purse on lap or behind you against chair back
  • Napkin placement — unfold napkin on your lap, if you must leave temporarily place napkin on chair.
  • Sugar/lemon — sugar is placed in cup first, then thinly sliced lemon and never milk and lemon together. Milk goes in after tea — much debate over it, but according to Washington School of Protocol, milk goes in last. The habit of putting milk in tea came from the French. “To put milk in your tea before sugar is to cross the path of love, perhaps never to marry.” (Tea superstition)
  • The correct order when eating on a tea tray is to eat savories first, scones next and sweets last. We have changed our order somewhat. We like guests to eat the scones first while they are hot, then move to savories, then sweets.
  • Scones — split horizontally with knife, curd and cream is placed on plate. Use the knife to put cream/curd on each bite. Eat with fingers neatly.
  • Proper placement of spoon — the spoon always goes behind cup, also don’t leave the spoon in the cup.
  • Proper holding of cup — do not put your pinky “up”, this is not correct. A guest should look into the teacup when drinking — never over it.

Most important of all: Don't think to much of the etiquette, but JUST ENJOY THE PARTY ;)

Personalize your party

Event: Madame DW's farewell party (Ambassador of Austria)-Nov2011

To make your party memorable and fun, you can print something personal to add on your decoration detail.  I tried to create this goody bag and accessories for sandwich.

You can use beautiful colorful papers for making the goody bag with printed sticker and ribbon (form it as a cone or as required). Also, use toothpicks with printed sticker to decorate your sandwiches.

Have fun trying....

Something sweet

Table setting by me as covered in Marie Claire Indonesia - August 2011

I'd like to share my passion in enjoying the beautiful things in this world.
What is beauty? I quote from Christian Dior about beauty in his own definition: "Zest is the secret of all beauty". For me, it means that we can find beauty in anything we see/have with the involve of enthusiasm and excitement.

As I am always so excited about design, here what I love to do during my spare times, beside traveling: turning some useless things into something beautiful; arranging tea party; doing table setting; baking cupcakes and macarons; experimenting ideas in cutting and pasting papers which later maybe I can use it as"goody bags"??; putting all together some stuffs in one cute little basket called it hampers; designing this and that; and so on..

These fun little activities are giving me the feeling of eating petite four, many varieties beautiful little sweets that sweeten my life :)
